Why YPS?

A question we were asked when we started this group was "aren't there enough youth oriented sites spreading the gospel of community involvement?". Well I suppose the answer is yes and no. Yes if you consider the sheer number of youth oriented websites and no if you consider that there are still too many people who have no idea on how to get involved with their community.

I know my views may be limited, but I think theres a bit of the solomonic in Noys decision to hold the DILG for himself for now.

He cant afford to isolate any potential support Binay has made for himself ( whatever, with whoever, and for how much) with the LGUs (and the voting public) and given the numbers that both of them generated on May 10, the worst that Noy can do is to look like inaapi niya yung representative ng mga mahihirap ( yuck) in favor of someone who doesn’t have the same “mandate” pero ka-rancho niya.

STATISTICS SHOW HOW INADEQUATE OUR education system is in providing the quality and level of standards needed by Filipino students to learn, develop and acquire skills. From low enrollment rates, high illiteracy rates, low achievement rates to a mismatch between acquired skills and industry requirements, not to mention poor teacher quality and morale, the Philippine education system has shown little improvement through the years. Changes in leadership and poor governance are only some of the factors contributing to the decline.
